“Outfitters” in What Sense?
Sometimes, the use of “Outfitters” in our name creates confusion. People understandably assume that we are primarily about guiding hunting and fishing trips, or some other outdoor activity, so it seemed good to provide clarification about why we are “TrueQuest Outfitters”.
Actually “Outfitters” has a double meaning. First, we do use outdoor activities as an important part of what we do. This includes both hunting and fishing trips, and, various wilderness experiences. Depending on the activity, we may lead it ourselves, or we might secure the services of another outfitting service, depending on the specifics of the event. But these events will always be in support of our core function, which brings us to the deeper, more significant meaning behind “Outfitters”.
At the core of what we do is the recognition that our existence is about the pursuit of “Life”. Since this pursuit is lifelong, and singularly focused, it truly is a “Quest”. Now there are two options for pursuing this Quest – my path, and God’s path. My path will never truly bring me Life. No matter how promising the prospects may appear at times, the hope my path produces is always “false”. By contrast, God’s path is the path to Life, and is thus, the path of the TrueQuest. Our desire is to equip and guide people on this Quest – which is what “Outfitters” do…
